Every Indiana lawsuit is public record on mycase.in.gov — the Indiana courts' official website. Whether we contacted you or you just have a bad feeling, here's how to see for yourself.
Go to public.courts.in.gov/mycase. This is run by the Indiana judiciary — notice the .gov address. It's free and doesn't ask you to sign up.
If you have a case number (from our message, or from court papers), click the Case tab and type it exactly, like 49D04-2608-CC-047424. No case number? Click the Name tab, enter your last and first name, and pick your county (for Indianapolis, choose Marion County).
The case summary shows who is suing you, the court, the date filed, and every step so far. CC in the case number means "civil collection" — a debt lawsuit. If the record shows "Service Issued" or "Service Returned Served," the clock on your response deadline may already be running.
In most Indiana civil collection cases you have about 20 days after being served (23 if by mail) to file a written Answer. Miss it, and the collector can ask for a default judgment — that's the outcome to avoid.
